@ Divers lodge
Divegirl Twiggs [right with Karim & Dr. Ahmed Kamal from Divers Lodge] tells us how she became a top tekkie instructor in the Red Sea:
I started diving in the 1990's whilst living in Greece then returned to Uni and went through PADI system. I finished in 1995, had a summer spare before going to do my masters in Canada, so went to Egypt and worked as a divemaster on liveaboard boat... deferred my place, losing scholarship.... deferred again... and again... and 4 years later I'm STILL here!
During my time in Hurghada Ive worked 1 year on a Liveaboard, all over the Red Sea, two years for Divers' Lodge, and now I am partner and training Director for TDI Middle East. My tekkie career bloomed at Divers' Lodge working for Karim (flamboyant owner, pioneer of Tek in the Red Sea!) enabling me to follow my passion for the blue. I met the late Rob Palmer in 1996, who directed me towards trimix and away from Deep Air. I began teaching and currently hold TDI Instructor Trainer rating in Nitrox, Adv. Nitrox, Deco. Procedures, Extended Range & Semi-Closed Rebreather
My best experience....there are soooo many that it's difficult to pin point one...one that comes to mind was trimix canyon dive to 107 meters....Wierdest experience...(can't tell u!) second wierdest was falling asleep on deco stop....Worst kind of students....the "I know" type!!!...Guys?.... well, when they realize they are going to be taught by a girlie, they are first dubious about my diving credentials...then....when they realize I know a hell of a lot more, they love it!!!... What do I enjoy most out of teaching?... depends on the student, but generally a feeling of pride and satisfaction, and occasionally meeting a person, that will be friends for life... Comments for girls.... I think finally as the millenium approaches girls have already proved their abilities in a number of male oriented sports... My thoughts "do as you feel, and let no one get in your way!!" Why should divers choose Divers' Lodge?
- fun factor
- tek factor
- music factor.......
- and MOST of all the MAD Factor!
